Existential

Existential Existential? Terry Dashner ????. Faith Fellowship Church PO Box 1586 Broken Arrow, OK 74013Are an existentialist? Yes? S can also be one and not know it. But more than likely if you have one, it's good to know philosophy. Here? S know.Existentialism which is a philosophical movement emphasizing individual existence and exploitation that human beings are totally free and responsible for their actions? According to Webster? S New World Dictionary (Wiley Publishing, Inc. 2003). But for those who are familiar with the movement, I have given enough information? Otherwise, listen up.I resumed an old book that I was assigned to the Graduate School many years ago. I lost the powder bed and the covers of new parties. Why? I did so because, in my opinion, there are also poor adherence to the philosophy of Christianity today. For example, my son came home recently from Oklahoma State University, where he is a freshman, studying business. It closed the year with final exams and shows me his philosophy documents. He is the study of the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. You may recall that Nietzsche has told us at the end of 1800? And that God is dead and who killed him. This is a bad philosophy. And I regret that a school like OSU focuses an important part of a course on the philosophy of Nietzsche? S is not teaching. History proved the wrong thing? Communism, Nazism and the Jewish Holocaust? They are all products of Nietzsche? S philosophy. Because I ached, I retued to my old books on philosophy to read some of the philosophies terrible. Believe it or not, some of these bad philosophies today continue to circulate and which is promoted as a good Christian doctrine. I advise you regarding some of the subtle lessons of existentialism and let you decide whether or not it is a good doctrine of the Church. Here goes. The book? M loan is entitled, existentialism and the Christian faith? A frank assessment of a day of mode philosophy ", by Milton D. Hunnex (Moody Press 1969). I quote from the first chapter, entitled? A new Reformation or a new religion? In this chapter, that the criticism of Bishop John Robinson? S book, Honest to God, a book of 1963 that led a rebellion against traditional Christianity. Robinson compared the movement of existentialism to the powerful forces unleashed by Martin Luther during the Reformation. This is Hogwash. And I think agree.Robinson it is claimed that the new movement to replace traditional Christianity in a matter of time. Hunnex answer, what is developing before our eyes today could be more important that the revolt in the sixteenth century. The revolt that sought to restore New Testament Christianity in its own terms. The revolt is trying to reassert its place in Christianity nonsupeatural, layman terms. This is a rebellion against the authority of God and the Bible, against the God of the Christian tradition. ? God must die? Robinson writes? If man is to live. He is? Intellectually redundant, emotionally and morally essential unacceptable. The new Christian is a Post-Christian faith for the future based on existentialism and universalism as the philosophical basis of the mind. The Christian faith has no part of it. The Christian faith is an anachronism. Must be abandoned, along with the rest of the past, says Robinson. Hunnex next? Historically, theologians are almost always the models and methods of philosophy to support their work. While this is a 'necessary, also referred to the Christian faith and the influence of philosophy. When the thinking is abandoned, the theology that has threatened if it does not leave much. Platonism in its various forms is the first philosophy of Christian theologians, but their otherworldliness and dualism gave way to more naturalistic and monistic philosophy of Aristotle in the thirteenth century. It is part of the distortions introduced by the Aristotelian philosophy, biblical Christianity which led to a revolution in the sixteenth century reformers. ? It can not be assimilated or naturalism or Aristotle or the scientific revolution, the Protestant theology, became the ideal of mode philosophy as the most suitable for the Christian faith. Mode liberalism made its home among the idealists in the nineteenth century. After the First World War it became obvious that fit the idealism of the twentieth century, philosophers and theologians, and the left. Existentialism came instead as the kind of philosophy that does not seem to fit the mood and needs of the twentieth century. Existentialism philosophy seems to be the best way to reach the problems of people trapped in fast-moving change. I could go on, but I? Ll just say this:? Harry Emerson Fosdick once said that this is not a novelty or an old theology, but a question of a new theology, or none at all. On the contrary, I maintain, said Hunnex? It is not a novelty or an old theology, but a matter of the Gospel or the Gospel to all. I agree. And you? Keep the faith. Stay the course. Jesus will retu said was.Pastor T.
